NEW YEAR'S EVE AND MY BIRTHDAY

Yes, I am a Capricorn male. I love every minute of it! Everyone parties on my birthday. I played the party at Langston's Thursday night. Lovely crowd as it's the holiday season. They danced all night, but the club owner, whose name is also Calvin, said that he wanted me to hit them harder. I played"I think they like me" by The Franchise Boyz and he goes" i wouldn't play that I told him that he needs to listen to the radio, that that was a hot song, and he shut up when the floor got crowded. I did have my moments and the music did go up and down a couple of times. The sound system in Langston's is not the best, by a long shot and with every dj on every other night changing the configuration of the system with external cd players and signal processors, makes the matter that much worse. It is frustrating to say the least. The monitors were hooked up with the mids and they screamed in y ears all night long. I could not hear the damned floor! The system looks world class but has a bit of a ways to go. Fast forward to Saturday night. I worked today and now I am home trying to cook something for New Year's Eve, as I always do. I am supposed to go out tonight but really don't feel like it. I think that I will go to bed after midnight and have a quiet evening. My boy was in the living room getting sloshed. A one man party! Anyway! Happy New Year's Kerry and to each and every one of you.

IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE

I am a little depressed right about now. My father is in the hospital and my moms is gone. This is a hard time for me. I have many friends, but there is nothing like family. I usually cook or go to dinner. One of my aunts is also gone. We would go to her house for Christmas. This year I am working the whole weekend. I played at Langston's Thursday past. Nice party. I will play tomorrow night( Christmas) at the Catty Shack. I am looking forward to that. Should be nice. My birthday is in a week. New Year's Day. I am also working the whole weekend at my regular job. I want tio wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. I am about to go home; yes the trains and buses are running again, and cook something to eat and have a glass of champagne. Gonna chill out tonight, so I can start all over again tomorrow. I am still blessed to have the multitude of friends that I have and I have ny health. That in itself is a gift that I do and always will cherish.

ALTERNATIVES

It has been two days and the transit strike is still going on. If the union has a million dollars a day to burn in fines, then they don't need raises. Hell! I have made it to work for the second day without a hitch. When the trains and buses start running again, I won't need to use them. I wonder what they are going to do about the people who have metrocards and a loss of time. I wonder if the MTA is going to credit people for loss fares. Yeah right!!!THAT WILL BE THE DAY. The half fare deal was a ploy to get you to buy the most expensive metrocard available with the promise of an extra week or so. Ha ha ha. The system is dead in the water, and the meter is running. How do you care for them when they, the mta and the union don't care about you. if you find an alternative means of travel, then use it even after a settement, to let them know that you do not like this mess. Right around the holidays, too!
Meanwhile, several parties have already been cancelled, and I am afraid that my Thursday night party will be cacelled too. That means a loss of wages to me and everyone else who depends on the club to make ends meet. Oh well.......

MTA AND TWU PLAY SCROOGE THIS HOLIDAY

Here we go with a damned transit strike, less than a week before Christmas. I hope that the union gets what they want as they are inconveniencing everybody else. There are going to be some serious repercussions behind this. My club dates are up in the air as club owners debate if it is worth openining up, since most people go to the clubs on public transportation. That means that I won't make my money, and have to spend more money, so that the transit workers can get their money. I don't feel as though I should be hed hostage, in this situation I have to pay for taxis to go to work. 30 bucks a day roundtrip, not including luch or any other things that I spend on. Not to mention the fact that I have a metrocard that will be useless when this shit is over with. Unless the MTA is going to give up an extension, which I seriously doubt. The TWU and the MTA have to watch out, as they are both screwing the public, royally. Neither side has bargained in good faith or realistically as far as I can see. I gave up my car 3 years ago, as it became harder to pay my 1000 dollar rent and for a car too. New York City is not a friendy city for middle class people,as we are always getting screwed. Don't bend over you'll get the shock of our life! I am considering moving out and I love it here, but now you are stressed to make ends meet and save a little money, too. Impossible. Mayor Bloomberg has no sentiment for working people and the rent being charged here; MOSTLY OUT OF GREED, NOT NEED! He had the nerve to say that we should be happy that he rent increase wasn't more than what they decided upon. Remember, since 911 we have had not one year of a moratorium on rent increases, having to shel out as the city's economy tanked.

Me at Langston's in Bklyn.

'TWAS A WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Sitting at my desk,on a Sunday morning, at work, just got a call from a friend of mine, whom I met about four years ago, at the Bklyn Cafe. We got kinky that night! The dj booth was rather huge and we used to do a lot of 'entertaining', in the booth. DJ Unknown and DJ Mario and myself. Sometimes that was where the real party was. It was also like a vip lounge, eventhough the club had one on the other side of the stage. Anyway, my friend is on a plane, heading home, to Jamaica for the holidays, and gave me a call from the plane. he used to be a flight attendant for Air Jamaica, but was laid off. We have hung out in L A., Atl, D.C., together, several times. He's 28 and got enough trade for 3 people. Well, I told him to hit me up when he gets back to N.Y. For now, I am preparing for the holidays. I will be spinning at Langston's on Thursday and at the Caddyshack on Sunday, Christmas night. I will be there for New year's night , too. My birthday is New Years Day, and I should really have a party. Oh well. I will be at madame Lisa's house party on New Year's Eve. She throws one hell of a bangin' party, in Bed Stuy Bklyn, on that night. Free!!! You just have to buy drinks. The food is free, too. Everybody comes to her party as it is legendary. The whole house and the street around her house is usually crowded. Lisa is straight but caters to a gay clientele. All of the cuties go to her party. I played for her summer house party.Packed!!! I turned it out! Dj Carlos Sanchez is playing for her New Year's Eve party. He's good; just too much ego. He plays classics and house music. I will be there anyway. Lisa does a weekly party at the Starlite Lounge, in Bklyn, every Saturday night. I have been playing for her, in rotation with other djs, once a month, since March. I play house and classics there, with a touch of rnb/hip hop. Oh, the picture is from Memorial Day weekend 2005, in D.C., at the Edge nightclub. That's me on the tables. That was a hot party yo.

HERE WE GO YO!

I got up at 2 a.m., showered and got my ass out of the house. i took a cab to work, as i had missed the bus. Got money to make, and I am on a mission. I will be spinning at Caddyshack next Sunday, Christmas, and on New Year's night. My birthday is New Year's Day. I usuallt have fun as everybod parties on my birthday. I have a few new cd's to make and track, so that i can distribute some new tunes to the masses. addyshack is in bklyn, on 4th Ave. in Park Slope The club is very nice. I will be working with dj Fred Pierce, whom I have the pleasure of calling a friend and working with for too many years to mention. We both played for James Saunders, promoter of some of the best black gay parties in New York City, and his U-men U-sweat entertainment network. If you had the opportunity to experience the South Oxford Tennis club,in the nineties, then you got a once in a lifetime treat, as that club was the bomb, and as the Paradise Garage, will never be repeated. The parties were ova!! !!. Then he and Fred did the Octagon Fridays, as U+ Me Productions, and had a succesful 5 and a half year run. Dj Unknown and myself dj Calvin Smith, did the upstairs hip hop floor called the "boom boom room". The damned place stayed packed, hot and sweaty. One good thing about James' parties was that the straight peeps frequented them too! All colors of people, and all types. We even had celebrities come through, eventhough I am not at liberty to say who as everybody wanted to be there, but officially not there. The music was hotter than what you would get in a straight club. We also had the most peaceful parties as that was what people came out to do We did not have fights in the club. It was the largest black gay party for men, in the country with people coming from across the country to party. I received a lot of fame and notoriety from those affairs. I went on to work at many pride events across the country. Doing the L.A. beach party for 8 years in a row. I also did Atlanta black pride and D.C. black pride events. The next hot party was at the Bklyn Cafe. 2000 to 2003. For almost three years we tore it up over there. Me and djUnknown, and that was the biggest black gay hip hop party in the nation. The sound system was off the f**kin' hook! One New York Pride, we had Angie Stone. She tore shit up !! Real people. A sweetheart and a diva. I got to meet Olivia before G-unit, as she performed for us, too. There were more, but I will get to that later. Well, back to now, i am at work doing my thing, and now I gotta go. Later.....

CRAZY FRIDAY

I am at work and have been up for the past 19 hours.I played at Langston's last night. They have a Thursday night party that is rather interesting. They have a stripper revue that you have to see to appreciate. I dj and last night was slow as peoplepare worried about a transit strike. Peoplep opted to stay home rather than go out and have to rely on taxis to get home. I believe that the club scene will suffer if a major transit strike occurs. Well, I ran into some interesting peeps this morning. I would say that my morning was over the top as I was offered aggod time after the club, which I had to decline. Oh well! Maybe another time. I dropped my records home and then headed to my regular job. I am now trying to get the hell out of here and go home as my body is tired now.

MY DOMINICAN FLING

Just got off of the plane at Kennedy. It's Friday night and James Saunders is having his birthday party at the Octagon. I am whipped after 8 days in Santo Domingo. I was hanging out with my friend, who lives there. I stayed with him in the barrio. The people are poor, but very proud. They treat visitors very good. I had a blast, while there with him. More on that later. I went through customs and got a cab home. It was already midnight and I had to be to work in the morning. Well, I just decided that I was going to shower and go to bed. I have to apologize to James, in the morning. I already miss my friend, Christopher. I will be back in a couple of months. I threw the suitcases wherever and got ready for bed. It was good to be home for a nice hot shower, as the water in the barrio is cold. One good thing though, if you are out partying and come home drunk, that shower will "bring a bitch together"! I woke the hell up many a mornings after that ordeal. Now I am back to reality and the fact that I have to work in order to play, so here I am, yo. That's me from the last trip, as I still have to go through my photos from this trip. I was frowning cause I was looking up and it was hot as hell and sunny that day.
