THE WHITE PARTY CRUISE

400 beatiful men and women black, white, latino and asian, straight and gay, showed up for this event. The affair was elegant and with the majority of people in white....., well you can just imagine. I met the other dj, Mike da Wizard, prior to the cruise. We talked and took a couple of pictures together. Then it was time for boardig. The whole third level was reserved for VIP. I was stationed on the second deck, where the show was to take place and Mike was on the lower deck. The party was hot! What was really nice was that there was always something going on. People danced on both levels. During the show, many people opted to go downstairs and then they made their way back up to my floor, to watch the show and dance, some more They danced and screamed when they heard tunes that they didn't expect. I had a lot of fun, entertaining the crowd. We both got our shit off that night. There was not one complaint, but still, with an hour and a half window for checking in, until departure, some people missed he ship. The "Spirit of New York", is huge and beautiful. Alize was a sponsor, as was Clikque magazine. The captain and the crew enjoyed the crowd so much and their well mannered behavior that when we docked, we were allowed to continue partying until 4:30 a.m. This was a night to remember and many people had no idea as to how nice the cruises are. They vowed to return next year 'en masse' with other friends. Regardless of your age, from late teens to, well up there, music was played for everyone. I 'turned it out' and felt really good receiving kudos for a very nice evening. Dj Mike rocked on the lower level, too. I have posted some pictures. I have many that need to be lightened, as the lights were set for a romantic and clubbish mood. James Saunders put his foot into this one! Hot!
See you at next year's party cruise.

PRIDE IN THE CITY WEEKEND

Thursday evening is the opening ceremony for NYC' s Black Pride, which by the way is called "Pride In The City". I went to the Bklyn Marriott to promote for the party cruise tomorrow night and to see the ceremony. The evening was very nice with many awards being given to a lot of people, who have made a difference, in the black gay community, in New York City. There was a roast to Harmonica Sunbeam, which really wasn't a roast at all, as all of the drag performers just worked for theirselves! Anyway, it was what it was and the show was nice. My friend and party promoter, James Saunders, recieved an award, which was given to him by Calvin Clarke, the owner of Langston's, on behalf of P.O.C.C. Then there was the main performance of the evening, Chante Moore. Ova! Ova! Ova! Now I really could get into the politics of the evening, but I don't want to start any controversy just yet. I then went to the lounge andrestaurant for free drinks, from sponsor, Alize, and some hor deourves. I was drunk, to put it mildly I talked with Harmonica and then took my ass home. The pictures are left to right, Chante Moore, then Calvin Clark and James Saunders, is the one below.

WHITE PARTY MOONLIGHT CRUISE

Now that I am back from the Dominican Republic, I am preparing myself for the White Party Moonlight Cruise, which is given every year by James Saunders. He has been promoting parties since the begining of creation and has done about 15 boat rides. He started out with the Circle Line boats. Those parties were off the hook, real ghetto, as you brought your crew with you, your food and your liquor. You grabbed a table on the boat on one or the other levels and then you hung out. The music was by myself and Fred Pierce. We would turn that boat the hell out! At that time, we were playing at the South Oxford Tennis club. James was the prominent promoter of Black gay events in N. Y. After a few years, we ended up at The Octagon, on Fridays, for a five and a half year run. This is where I met my close friend, DJ Unknown. Back to the boat rides.... James then did the Paddle Wheel Queen, and then he stepped up to a classier ship, "The Horizon". That was very beautiful, and the first white party boat ride. I had been booked elsewhere so I did not work that one. Then the next year he did "The Zephyr". That ship was beautiful! The party was nice, too! Last year, he had 'The Horizon", again. This year, he went to Spirit Cruises, as 'The Horizon' was sold to Sprit Cruises D.C and is now on the Potomac. He had 'The Spirit of New York. As beautiful as The Horizon.
